Discovering the wonders of Sri Lanka begins with the key to its vibrant landscapes and rich culture – the VISA.

Whether you prefer the convenience of applying online or the thrill of getting it on arrival, we’ve got your visa journey covered. Let’s dive into the details and make sure your entry to this paradise is as seamless as the waves on its golden beaches.

All tourists must get a valid visa before entering to Sri Lanka. Visa can be obtained online before arrival.

This is the official site to apply online.

You will get an immediate response to confirm receipt of your visa application.

It usually takes only 1 day to process.  You can expect the visa confirmation within 24 hours. The fees are different depending on the country of your passport.

If you are coming from a country other than a South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) the fee is USD 50 for 30 days stay as a tourist. For SAARC countries tourist visa is only USD 20 for 30 days stay.

If you didn’t get your online visa, don’t worry, you still can get your tourist visa on arrival over the counter. I don’t say that it is more convenient than online visa, but it is still possible with additional USD 10 charge. Also, it might keep you waiting until the process is completed.

My opinion is to get your visa online before your departure so that your exit process from the Bandaranayake International Airport in Colombo will be trouble free and much faster.

Sri Lankan government reviews visa fees on regular basis, so please be alert.
